Contractions
We are learning to find contractions in our stories. We know that contraction are two words that are squashed together. I can find contractions easily because they have an apostrophe in them.
I am good at contractions because I know where the apostrophe goes and I know that it is two words that are squashed together. My next step is to get better at finding out about the setting in the book.
Fractions
We are learning about fractions. We know that one quarter is when we cut something into four pieces. We also learnt about halves which means we cut something two pieces. Fractions are ½ ¼ and ⅓. With fraction you start with one whole and you cut it into pieces.
I know fractions because I know if I have four pizzas and I got all four pizzas and my brother got none it will not be fair but if I give my brother two pizza’s and I have two pizzas it will be fair.
Compound sentences
We are learning to write compound sentences. We know that a compound sentence is two sentences that we put together with ‘and’ ‘but’ or ‘because. It can be tricky to make sure we join two sentences together and not just another word to a sentence.
I am getting better at writing compound sentences. I am working on concentrating during writing time and writing longer stories.

Counting backward from 20
I like maths because I get to learn lots of counting. I am good at counting backwards from 20. It is still a bit tricky to find the numbers before 20. I want to work even harder at maths.
